A Wintu (too Northern Wintun) come Native Americans who sleep in what is okay, Northern California. It is the portion of a class action of associated groups known together when Wintun (or Wintuan).
A Wintu lived primarily on the american side of the northern a portion of the Sacramento Valley, from a Sacramento River to the Coast Range. A range of a Wintu as well involved the southern portions of the Upper Sacramento River (south of a Salt Creek drain), the southern part of the McCloud River, and a upper Trinity River.
It sleep in the Sacramento Flow of any stream vale in the neighbourhood of Chico, on the west side of the river to the coast mountains.
There were all about 12,000 Wintu around 1770 & 1,000 inside 1910. A 1930 Nosecount reported 512 Wintu, Wintun and Wappo.
A Wintu lived by camping, hunting & gathering.
Wintu groups
It sleep in little groups while forgoing centralised political authority. These groups come typically known as triblets, like than tribes because of the deficiency of the central authority. Lapena (1978) identifies nine independent Wintu groups (enrolled in the Wintu language along by owning an English translation):

A Nomitipom sleep in a upper Sacramento vale; the Wenemem (also spelled Winnemem) touching McCloud; the Dawpon touching Stillwater; the elpom touching Keswick; the λ’abalpom touching French Gulch; the Nomsuus (the.k.the. Trinity Flow of any stream Wintu) in a Upper Trinity vale; a Dawnom touching the Bald Hills; the Norelmaq touching Hayfork; and a Waymaq in the upper area of the McCloud Flow of any stream vale.
History
Contact with Whites
A Wintu were number one found by Euro-Americans in the 1826 expedition of Jedediah Smith, followed by a 1827 expedition led by Peter Skene Ogden. Between 1830 & 1833, numerous Wintus were wasted to malaria in an epidemic that killed off in 75% of the autochthonic people of the upper & central Sacramento Valley. Inside resulting years a weakened Wintu fell victim to a occupation strageties of incoming settlers, which include the destruction of the Wintu food supply due sheep & oxen invasion & flow of any stream pollution stimulated U.s. gold digger. A Wintu were utilized when manual laborer around gold mining operations. Inside 1846 John C. Frémont killed 175 Wintu and Yana. Farther efforts tried to control Wintu l& and relocate the two to west of Clear Creek. Within the "friendship feast" of poisoned food served by Whites around 1850, Century Nomsuus & 45 Wenemem Wintus were massacred. This was followed by an additional slaughter & destruction of Wintu land around 1851 (LaPena 1978:324).

A Wintu spoke one of a Wintuan languages, which is also known as ''''.
